Printmakers Yard, a new residential-led mixed-use development located in Brentford, one of West London’s most eclectic and dynamic neighbourhoods is set to redefine urban living. Comprising approximately 350 new apartments, the development offers a blend of history and contemporary charm, surrounded by historic landmarks, grand architecture and sprawling parks. Located on the River Thames, some apartments will also boast stunning waterside views, providing residents with a unique lifestyle opportunity.

Established specialists in drylining, façade and cladding services, TudorMay were chosen to complete the installation of Knauf’s ThroughWall and Drylining systems throughout the entire development. Knauf’s ThroughWall is a BBA-accredited full-system, comprising Knauf Plasterboards, Knauf Steel Framing Sections, Knauf Insulation, Knauf Windliner and Knauf RainScreen Slabs.

The Knauf ThroughWall is a one-brand solution, designed to meet required building performance while still allowing a flexibility of external finishes to be applied. It provides enhanced traceability and less risk associated with sourcing different manufacturers. Suitable for use in buildings in excess of 18 metres in height, the variety of system build-up options means any regulatory requirement can be met. Knauf ThroughWall also comes with a full design service and expert support at every stage of the project.

A number of Knauf’s performance plasterboards have also been specified and installed, including the Sound Panel, Moisture Panel and Fire Panel. All will contribute to an overall enhanced building performance, including providing extra protection against fire, improved acoustics and reinforced resistance to moisture.

During the early stages of the project, window plates were initially excluded from the steel framing system (SFS) design which posed a challenge later on when TudorMay was informed window plates were in fact required. The importance of collaboration between Knauf and TudorMay became evident when addressing the unexpected design change.

Rhys Williamson, Commercial Manager for TudorMay emphasises the valuable technical support services provided by Knauf: “The technical support from Knauf is second to none, and on this project when we needed a quick design change, they turned the new design around very quickly and were always on the end of the phone to answer any questions.”

“Regulations are always changing in our industry, but Knauf stays in touch and lets us know what is changing and when. This gives us a head start to warn our clients, especially when it comes to tendering, which always puts us one step ahead.”

The Printmakers Yard development stands as a testament to the success of collaboration between Knauf and TudorMay. As the project progresses, the collaboration continues to exemplify how coordination and proactive support contribute to the success of construction projects, ultimately benefiting both the clients and stakeholders involved.
