Project Details
To ensure a speedy build, Knauf Windliner, Knauf MF Suspended Ceiling and the Knauf Performer partition system were specified for the CURAM care home in Dublin, Ireland.
Construction of the four-storey, 144-bed home commenced in 2018 and, despite the lockdown, welcomed residents in June 2021. Eddie Hogan, Project Manager for Esmonde Developments hadn’t used Knauf Windliner before and found it a positive experience.
He comments: “Knauf Windliner was specified to seal the building envelope enabling quicker progression of internal work. With the internal leaf well sealed the external leaf was comfortably exposed for four months while external trades completed the building’s exterior. Both we and the client were impressed with the system and I will definitely be recommending it for future projects.”
As this was Eddie’s first time using Windliner he was grateful for the technical assistance provided by Knauf. He explains: “The Knauf Technical Team provided excellent advice, inspections and audits. They’re very knowledgeable and understand the intricacies of working on a wide variety of construction projects and the interfaces between different systems and trades.”
For the internals, the Knauf Performer partition system and Knauf MF Suspended Ceiling system were both used. Knauf Performer is a versatile system that is light and easy to install and meets the most demanding fire, sound, moisture and impact resistance requirements.
Michael Keogh, Managing Director of Jabes Interiors, describes why the company has confidence in Knauf systems: “We always find that the products are easy to use and of exceptional quality, as is the service from the Technical Team. The declaration of performance and technical data is well presented. Everyone we’ve spoken with at Knauf has been very helpful, pre-empting questions and helping us to achieve a positive conclusion for both the client and the contractor.”
CURAM Care Home is designed with a kitchen, dining room and a selection of seating areas on each floor. This allows every floor to operate as an individual unit while still enjoying the benefits and facilities of a larger home.
